2008 Review

Every year I sit back and think about the year that has just passed. Sometimes I send out Christmas cards, last year I did emails, this year, it's the New Years' blog post.

I posted last years Christmas letter here, and last years New Year's resolutions here. Looking back at them now, I can see just what I accomplished and what I completely ditched. Hooray for our garden, our trip to Montana, and my fact finding mission. Hooray for the amount of crafts I completed this year. Hooray for the writing of my blog, the creation of my new blog: my point of hue, and landing the role of craft expert on Best Ever You.
I have quite a bit of research collected for my book about my great-grandparents set in 1910 and I will be writing this winter. My weight loss goals are still floating out there. And my romantic vacation for our 10th has been postponed to a 40th birthday trip for Andy this summer. (parle vous Francais?) (me neither-mrs. reed would be ashamed of me!) Hanson Robotics never finished their robot or paid me for my graphics work, so I hold their half finished book hostage until further notice.

Other happenings of '08:
*Our first winter in Maine brought 120" of snow - twice the normal amount for our area. We loved every bit of it, but honestly by the end of March, I was ready to look at some green.
*We took the kids to the Children's Science museum in Boston for their birthdays and spent over 2 hours in the bubble room alone...I think Andy liked it best!
*Watched Alex hit his first ever little league home run (it was actually a double with 2 errors)
*Carried 11 little girls in tutu's and tap shoes across the hallway to the packed auditorium because the floor was so slippery they kept falling.
*built a tree house
*Was reprimanded by Secret Service for my son sitting on the White House lawn while on a tour of their gardens
*planted too many tomatoes
*rode the train from Boston to Grand Forks to Whitefish and back again with the kids. see here and here.
*put my daughter on the school bus for the first time (oh that was a good day!)
*passed boating school and served as stern man on a Lobster boat
*Celebrated our 10th Anniversary with the purchase of 10 laying hens
*Became a girl scout leader, kindergarten room mother, 2nd grade room mother, and regional coordinator for Face the World
*made some new friends here in Maine and reconnected with many old friends via the internet.

This new year will bring on some exciting things for me. I can't wait to share all the plans I have! I hope you all had a great year and will have an even better 2009!
